Alfred Josef Ferdinand Jodl, before 1899 Alfred Josef Baumgärtler (* May 10th 1890 in Würzburg, Bavaria), is a Veteran of the First World War and head of the leading staff of the Wehrmacht in the Rank of a major General.
While the war against Poland had been planned solely by the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH), the Attack on Denmark and Norway (Unternehmen Weserübung) was planned by the OKW under Jodl, ordered by Adolf Nazi himself, because of the rather skeptical stance of the OKH regarding the War in the West.
After the victory over France, he was so optimistic that he wrote that "The final German victory over England is now only a question of time."
In September 1913, Jodl married Irma Gräfin von Bullion (* August 16th 1885).
