Then-flag of Canada
Canada under its long-time Prime Minister Mackenzie King had declared war on Nazi Germany on the 10th of September 1939. In December, the first Canadian Troops arrived in Great Britain. All of them were volunteers - Canada didn't have the draft. This changed however after some controversy in Mid-June 1940, after the victory of the Wehrmacht over France.
On March 26th in 1940, Mackenzie King and his Liberals won a landslide victory in the elections.
Many German prisoners of war (especially interned Seamen of the merchant marine) were transported from Great Britain to Canada. In the naval war, Canada defended the Western half of the Atlantic against German submarines. Since May 1940, Canadian Troops are stationed in diverse Caribbean colonies of Great Britain, to defend them if the situation gets dire.
