Earnhardt-Childress Racing (ECR) is an American professional stock car racing team that currently competes in the NASCAR RCA Cup Series, the NASCAR Arby's Convertible Series, the NASCAR Busch Series, and the USAC Gold Crown Series, formed in 1969 as Richard Childress Racing (RCR). The team is based in Welcome, North Carolina, and is owned and operated by Richard Childress, Dale Earnhardt, Teresa Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Kelley Earnhardt Miller. In the RCA Cup Series, the team currently fields six Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE teams: the No. 1 full-time for Martin Truex Jr., the No. 3 full-time for Austin Dillon, the No. 8 full-time for Jeffrey Earnhardt, the No. 30 full-time for Josh Berry, the No. 31 full-time for Ty Dillon, and the No. 33 full-time for Kyle Busch. In the Busch Series, the team currently fields five Chevrolet Camaro teams: the No. 1 full-time for Daniel Hemric, the No. 2 full-time for Sheldon Creed, the No. 3 full-time for multiple drivers including Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Martin Truex, Jr., Jeffrey Earnhardt, Josh Berry, Miguel Paludo, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., the No. 8 full-time for Sam Mayer, and the No. 21 full-time for Austin Hill. ECR has had at least one car successfully qualify for every Cup race since 1972, the longest such active streak, and is known for the longstanding use of the number 3 on its primary race car.
In addition to its in-house Cup Series teams, ECR has several technical alliances and partnerships with other teams. In the Cup Series, it is allied with Trackhouse Racing Team and Kaulig Racing. Beyond this, ECR also has a collaborative agreement with Beard Motorsports, although this is not a technical alliance.
In 2009, RCR merged with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. due to the effects of the financial crisis of the time, using the RCR shop and retaining many DEI and RCR employees. Since then, the team has seen further success, winning three RCA Cup Series championships (2009, 2010, and 2015 with Dale Earnhardt Jr.), three Busch Series championships (2013 with Austin Dillon, and 2018 and 2019 with Tyler Reddick), and the 2011 Craftsman Truck Series championship with Austin Dillon, as well as the 2018 Daytona 500 with Dillon.
