Ernst Wilhelm Bernhard Busch (* July 6th, 1885 in Essen-Steele, Westphalia) is a Veteran of the First World War and a General of the Wehrmacht. Even before Adolf Nazi took power, he was a follower of National Socialism.

In the Summer of 1938, on the Generals' meeting of August 4th in 1938 he turned, together with Walter von Reichenau, against the chief of the General staff Ludwig Beck, when the latter condemned the aggressive stance of the "Führer" towards Czechoslovakia as wrong. Busch was a critic of Heinz Guderian's concept of the Panzer troops as an independent branch of the service.

During the invasion of Poland, Busch's VIIIth Army Corps conquered Krakau and advanced as faar as Lemberg. Afterwards, he got the command of the 16th Army. Leading the latter, he was at the left wing of the Heeresgruppe A during the war in the west.
