Georg von Küchler (* May 30th, 1881 at Schloss [castle] Philippsruhe at Hanau, Hesse) is a Veteran of the First World War, former General staff's officer of the Brigade „Kurland“, commanding General of the Ist Army corps and also honorary knight of the Johanniterorden (Order of Saint John).

When World War II started, Küchler became commander of the 3rd Army. On September 22nd, Werner Freiherr von Fritsch, former head of the Heer, fell near Warsaw. When Küchler spoke some critical words at the funeral about the circumstances Fritsch had lost his post in 1938, he immediately lost his command. Küchler also refused to use his soldiers to persecute Jewish and Polish civilians, explaining to the Gauleiter of East Prussia Erich Koch that the "German army is not a supplier for a killer gang". But when Walther von Brauchitsch intervened, he soon got the command of the 18th Army.

In 1940 he was supportive of Nazi racial policy and ordered on 22 February a halt to any criticism of "ethnic struggle being carried out in the General Government, for instance, that of the Polish minorities, of the Jews and those regarding Church matters". His order explained that the "final ethnic solution" required unique and harsh measures.

In the war in the West, Küchler's Troops occupied the Netherlands.

In the Hierarchy, he serves under Fedor von Bock/Walther von Brauchitsch/Adolf Nazi.

He married Elisabeth von Enckevort (* 1888) in Darmstadt, 1921. They have a Son, Dieter (* 1926), and the daughter Sybille (* 1929).
