The old Greek flag
The kingdom of Greece has been ruled by dictator Ioannis Metaxas since 4th of August 1936, whose dictatorship is inspired by Portugal. In 1936, he had the Metaxas Line built, to protect the country from Bulgaria. Since Benito Mussolini has occupied and annexed neighboring Albania, the country is concerned. Sure, Great Britain and France gave their guarantee, but they did the same to Poland, and anyone can see what happened. But so far, things are quiet.
In January 1940, bowing to British pressure, Greece concluded a trade agreement with them, limiting its exports to Nazi Germany and allowing Britain to use the large Greek merchant fleet for its war effort.
King Georgios II (a grandson of German emperor Friedrich III), whose wife is the Sister of Carol II of Romania, doesn't have much to say.
