Hirohito (also known as Shōwa-tennō - like the Motto of his reign, meaning "enlightened peace", * April 29th, 1901) has been the 124th emperor of Japan since December 25th, 1926.
Since 1912 he was practically, since 1916 official heir of the throne. In 1924, he married his distant cousin Nagako Kuni. They have two Sons and five daughters, of which four are still alive.
On January 9th, 1932 he survived the assassination attempt of the Korean freedom fighter Lee Bong-chang in Tokyo.
He's officially worshipped as a god in Japan, and the war against China is lead in his Name as well.
