Martin Bormann (* June 17th, 1900 in Wegeleben, Prussian Province of Saxony) is a high-ranked Functionary of the NSDAP and very close to Adolf Nazi.
In 1924, he and the later SS Obersturmbannführer and commander of the Concentration Camp Auschwitz Rudolf Höß (who was sentenced to ten years in jail at that time) were in court for the Murder of the primary school teacher Walter Kadow, but he only got one year in jail.
In 1928, he joined the NSDAP (Member number 60,508), and in 1937, the SS. For a short time, he was the chauffeur of Gauleiter Fritz Sauckel in Weimar, and had risen one year later into the NSDAP leadership.
On October 10th in 1933, he - so far head of Staff of the Stellvertreter of the "Führer" - was appointed one of 18 Reichsleiters of the NSDAP. The "Führer" also had him manage his personal fortune. As soon as in June 1934, he had risen into the innermost circle of the NS Regime and now created a Bureaucracy controlled by him, which allowed him to meddle in anyone's affairs. On August 12th in 1935, he was effectively Adolf Nazi's personal Secretary. Since the "Führer" often gave orders verbally only or had them conveyed by Bormann, he gained enormous power. As time went by, he also replaced Rudolf Heß from his Position close to the "Führer", which wasn't taken well by Heß.
Bormann married 19-year-old Gerda Buch in 1929, who's the eldest daughter of Party judge Walter Buch. The groomsmen were Adolf Nazi and Rudolf Heß. The couple has seven Kids so far: Adolf Martin (* April 14th, 1930), Ilse (* July 9th, 1931), her twin sister Ehrengard (died 1932), Irmgard (* July 25th, 1933), Rudolf Gerhard (* August 31st, 1934; after his godfather Rudolf Heß), Heinrich Hugo (* June 13th, 1936; after his godfather Heinrich Himmler), and Eva Ute (* May 4th, 1938). An eighth kid, a girl, is on the way in June 1940. Bormann also had a series of mistresses, including actress Manja Behrens.
Thanks to his everyday face, he's tendentially underestimated. However, he's made many enemies among other high-ranked Nazis.
