Sheldon Robert Johnson, Sr. (January 28, 1923 - September 22, 2019) was an American politician and philantrophist. He was the Senator of California from November 4, 1992 until his passing.
Before becoming Senator, Johnson was CEO of Johnson Industries from 1944 to 1981, when he was ousted by Phil Stacker, who had just acquired the company; during his tenure, Johnson directed several famous feature films and starred in several of them, creating a tradition of Johnson CEOs starring in their own projects, a tradition continued by his son Sheldon Johnson, Jr. and his grandson Tim Johnson.

On January 20, 1944, at the age of 20, Johnson was made CEO of Johnson Industries, becoming the youngest CEO in the company's history until his grandson Tim became CEO in 2009. His first decision as CEO of Johnson was to provide aid for the Allies during the

Johnson married Lucy Faye Jones in 1948. Together, they had three children, including Sheldon Jr., Eliza, and Craig.

Johnson passed away on September 22, 2019 of congestive heart failure at the age of 96. Shortly after his death, all Johnson-owned networks (with the exceptions of Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Toon Disney, MTV, Freeform, and The NASCAR Network) ceased all programming as Tom Stephenson delivered the news to a stunned nation; WBC, all ESPN networks, TNN, Comedy Central, WBC News Network, Game Show Network, and A&E simulcast all coverage of Johnson's funeral services, in tandem with ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CNN, and BBC America. A state funeral service was held on September 25.
