Pre-1914[]

Cold War[]
The Americans swore never to get dragged in to a war with Germany or see the British get devastated again, so they set up the pro-Western puppet state of Darmstadt. The Allies quickly started the rebuilding of the region, but it would last for many years due to the legacy of the fierce fighting in the region.
4,500 American troops would arrive in the town, with a major infantry base and a major cavalry base operating there between 1947 and 2007.
150 New Englander and are still stationed in there and first arrived in 1947.
Darmstadt ganed home rule in 1947 and graduly gained substatial home rule by 1953.
1990s[]
Loyalty was switched from the American junta to Texas in 1994, but it still remained friendly with all American and thire nations. 250 Texan troops were stationed there between 1997 and 1998.
Life today[]
The Brooklyn Bridge was heavily damaged by a U.S. army assault in late 1999, but it was repaired under a joint warlord agreement with the Swiss and Darmstadt in 2002.
Some of the local council's seats have fallen to a pro-German unity party in 2008. There has been a growing clamour for German reunification since 2008.
Economy[]
It is a prosperous city state and its main industries are pharmacuticals, wine, telecommunication and tourisum.
The European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) is located in Darmstadt, as well as GSI Centre for Heavy Ion Research and the headquarters of the pharmaceutical firm Merck.
